Is Botox Facing Competition From New Injectables?

Then you think about cosmetic injectables, the first that came to mind five years ago was probably Botox. Now the market is flooded with new injections of filling and cosmetics. Names such as Juvéderm, Restylane, collagen and are popping up everywhere. If you are the subject of facial rejuvenation, May you be confused by new trends, products, gossip and being thrown around plastic surgeons and their patients.

If you are concerned that Botox is not as effective as compared to new injectables, there is no need to worry. Even with the glut of products available, the amount of administered Botox procedures has steadily increased over recent years, and it still plays an important role in plastic surgery. Most other new charges as Restylane have also gained popularity, while more natural options such as collagen and fat have significantly decreased.

Although there are new options available, which product you choose depends on your aesthetic goals. Botox is not the same substance that Juvéderm. Everyone has a specific purpose, benefits and risks.

Botox is a single injection that does not in the lines, but prevents the facial muscle of the creation of wrinkles. It is a toxin that paralyze the muscle. Thus, it is not technically erase wrinkles as much to block. It should be used sparingly to maintain a natural appearance. These types of filling are good to fill the hollow areas of the face, giving a younger appearance. They will not, however, affect the muscles of the face. They simply add that the volume will decrease within four to eight months. The effects of Botox are also limited, which can last up to six months.

Before Botox, collagen and fat were the only options decreases when the appearance of wrinkles or Plumping up lips and cheeks. Part of the reason for their recent decline in popularity could be the cost. Collagen is the same price to other injectable treatments, but fat is often harvested from other areas of the body, then injected into the target site, which is much more expensive than many other charges available. Another reason for the decrease in the number of plastic surgery patients using fat or collagen can simply be media influence. The mark of filling are advertised everywhere, while the collagen and fat would be proposed by a plastic surgeon.

When choosing a filler or injectable, trends can be a good indicator, but ultimately research and advice from a qualified plastic surgeon should be the determining factor. Like fashion and makeup trends fluctuate, the aesthetic plastic surgery will change over time, particularly with rapid changes in technology and cosmetic techniques. Consult a plastic surgeon before committing to any product.
